Christmas Adventures

so mike and i went to the valley to spend christmas with my family. we were so excited spend the holidays with them, but by the end of the trip, we were ready to come home!!

we got to the airport on tuesday, boarding passes in had, to find out that our flight was canceled. not only was our flight canceled, but all the other flights were delayed! mike called the airline while we stood in line and 45 min later, we were confirmed on another flight. yes!.....well think again. we got confirmed on the 4pm flight, but it was delayed for 2 1/2hrs!! ugh! so we checked in, went through security and got to our gate. well what do we see when we get to our gate.....our 4pm flight that was delayed till 630pm is now delayed till 715pm! ugh! at this point mike and i decide it's better to get drunk than to mope around. so we go and get some beer and some sunflower seeds and a magazine and start relaxing. an hour and a half passes by and the gate attendant gets on the overhead mic and announces that our flight is further delayed till 830pm!! no way!! i'm so annoyed and tired of being at the airport by now. it's hot, there's angry people everywhere, my armpits are moist and i'm hungry!! yikes! the gate attendants were even trying to bribe passengers with free drink tickets if they would sing a christmas song! i was so tempted to get up there and sing, but i was not in a very merry mood. bah! needless to say, after waiting 4 hrs at the airport, we got on a standby flight and were on our way to the valley. yippee!!

well i spoke to soon.....we got to the valley safe and sound, but with no luggage. arrgg! since we flew standby, our luggage was still on the flight that we were "confirmed" on and wouldn't arrive till maybe 1030pm! we decided to go home and have dinner before returning to get our bags. after dinner i got online to check the status of our bags, and guess what?!....they were delayed till 1230am! 10hrs after we left our house in dallas we finally and completely made it to the valley. whew!

thankfully our whole trip didn't go this way. we had a great time with my family. the shortened version goes like this: we went to church xmas eve, had xmas eve dinner at my aunt's house, had a yummy xmas lunch, opened presents, took a day trip to mexico, had dinner at my cousin's and played mexican bingo. good times!! makes me miss my family.

here's the bad thing that happened on this trip....it involves george, my brothers long haired, dapple dotson. every christmas my mom fills our stocking with small gifts and candy. of course the candy is my favorite part.....and george's too. this year i got a king size snickers bar, a foot long peppermint bar, skittles, a calender and lottery tickets. i emptied my stocking and left the goodies on top of my suitcase, not thinking anything would happen to them. wrong! i should've know better. last time we were at home, my purse was on the floor and george ate all my gum, minus the cardboard package! he had minty breath for a couple of days. well mike went into the room to change and came back with an empty snickers package and half a peppermint bar! he had the nerve to ask me if i'd eaten all the candy!! well what do ya know.....george comes strutting in with peppermint in his beard and minty breath! he didn't even try to hide it! i couldn't be mad b/c george looked too cute acting innocent. it was really funny. george didn't think it was that funny b/c he was sick the whole night. poor guy!

so we left on saturday to spend to do christmas with mike's family, but not without being delayed for 1 1/2 hrs at the airport! aye!
